Görsev Sönmez, 2001 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi İngilizce öğretmenliği bölümünden mezun olduktan sonra 5 sene devlet okullarında İngilizce Öğretmei olarak görev yaptı. 2006 yılında Yeditepe Üniversitesi Hazırlık okulunda okutman olarak başladı ve aynı kurumda Yüksek Lisans'ını yaptı. 2009 yılında yüksek lisans derecesini aldıktan sonra doktoraya başladı ve 2015 yılında yüksek onur derecesiyle doktor ünvanını aldı. Ulusal ve uluslararası birçok konferansa katılmış ve yayın yapmıştır. 2015 Ekim ayından itibaren üniversitemiz İngilizce Öğretmenliği Bölüm Başkanı ve Sürekli Eğitim Merkezi müdürüdür.
